Encouraged by Libby, Hurley decided to wipe out his stash of food. Food was then found, supposedly from a crashed plane. Hurley saw Dave, whom Dr. Brooks later said he had imagined. Hurley panicked and tried to get Sawyer to give the drug, but beat Sawyer up for his inadvertent remark and decided to leave the beach. Meet Dave again on the road, be gradually persuaded to jump off cliff to sober up. The pivotal moment Libby's words stopped him, convinced him that all was true, and testified with a kiss. But the fact that Libby made Hurley think she had met her was because she was in the same mental institution. In the cabin, Henry was tied up in custody, and Locke, who was stationed on crutches, spoke to him, saying he hadn't actually pressed the Numbers.
Hurley: an accident caused by a weight problem killed two people, and Hurley had a mental problem from blaming himself. In the hospital, he pretended to have a good friend, Dave, but no images of Dave were taken by Dr. Brooks for them. Dave tried to convince Hurley to abscond, and as he jumped out of the window, Hurley said he would wake up and forget his fantasy.
