Chen Nian, a self-proclaimed director of literature and art, gave up studying medicine in a graduate school. Unexpectedly, his parents were overwhelmed by the flames, denouncing his director's dream as not suitable for him at all. Chen Nian angrily ran away from home and came to a small town looking for a theme. In this small town, he met Xiao Miao, a lilac-like girl, and Sha Zi, who Chen Nian thought she was crazy when she saw beautiful women. Chen Nian loves Xiao Miao, but finds her loved one in her heart - with her childhood sweetheart Li ShaoGuang, her role as a shield for her beloved boy. In his interactions with a diverse community of towns, Chen Nian realized that his conception of being impossed by small towns was erroneous and that he understood the newer and more beautiful outlook only by getting rid of those inherent restraints. He helped Xiao Miao and Li ShaoGuang come together, took Sha Zi with new thinking, and rethought their own way, finally no longer angry with their parents, returned home.
