The story of "lone hero" took place in Jiangsu and Zhejiang in 1942. The New Fourth Army under the leadership of the Communist Party fought brutal fighting against the Japanese and the puppet forces. The Kuomintang troops were waiting in the wings to make serious inroads into the fighting. This was a special battle that took place on a special historical occasion. Hao JunJie (Li Xuejian), a veteran commander of the Kuomintang troops, formulated an extremely sinister "Golden Sun Project." That is, they tried to direct the independent group of the Wang Pseudo-Forces into the New Fourth Army and then use the undercover potential to provoke a civil war and ultimately use the Japanese forces to annihilate the New Fourth Army. Che DaoKuan (Hu Jun), the protagonist of the play, serves as grassroots commander of the New Fourth Army.
