The election season is over, the election war in full swing. A New Jersey senator's campaign manager burst acute liver failure at work with temporary paralysis. Cuddy ordered House to choose a female doctor to temporarily replace the 13 position. When House was unwilling to submit, Cuddy made his own case for the third-year medical student Martha Masters (Amber Tamblyn) to join House's team. House considered Martha neither inexperienced nor assertive and could hamper his team but left her for the time being under the pressure of Cuddy. House had to make a difficult decision to cure the patient - a decision that could jeopardize the feelings he and Cuddy had just built.
