Hu Xueyang (alias Hu), Shanghai native. In 1985, he was admitted to the director of the Beijing Film Academy in mainland China. While in school, he directed the short movie "TheTimetoLiveandtheTimetoDie" and won the 1990 American Academy of Motion Picture Film Festival Best Picture Award. After graduating in 1989, he was assigned to the Shanghai Film Studio as director. Hu Xueyang has been classified as a sixth generation director since he left the school and has become one of the more famous young directors.
